Welcome to the culinary haven of Umut 2000 Dalston, located at 6 Crossway, London N16 8HX—a quintessential stop for any lover of Turkish cuisine in the heart of London. With a reputation that resonates deeply within the local food scene, Umut 2000 stands out not only for its delectable offerings but also for its warm and inviting atmosphere, making it a favorite among locals and visitors alike.
From the moment you approach, the oversized grill at the entrance beckons you into a flavorful world infused with the aromas of expertly barbecued meats. As many patrons have highlighted, the star of the show is undeniably the lamb ribs—succulent and cooked to perfection. It’s no wonder customers like Marty Smith sing praises of the tender meat, complemented by delightful side salads and freshly baked bread that unsurprisingly becomes a highlight for many.
What sets Umut 2000 apart is the meticulous attention to detail in its dishes. For instance, the grilled bread, infused with savory juices from the meats, is nothing short of extraordinary. Wen describes it as "*literally the most delicious bread you’ll eat ever*," a sentiment that captures the spirit of this eatery—where every bite tells a story.
While the Adana kebab may not reach the heights of its namesake from Adana, Turkey, as noted by Emre Can Okten, the flavor profile holds its own, ensuring it is a satisfying choice amid a robust selection of meats. Pair your meal with their refreshing complimentary salads, which strike the right balance without overwhelming spice, making it accessible for all palates.
But it’s not just the food that makes Umut 2000 a standout. The customer service has been consistently praised, as Faruk Bg points out the attentive staff who contribute to an enjoyable dining experience. The restaurant fosters a relaxed and chilled atmosphere, encouraging conversation and connection over shared platters and traditional Turkish favorites.

I needed a proper Saturday night feast in Dalston and Yeni Umut never disappoints. The lamb shish is always spot on. The portion sizes are incredibly generous and the flatbread is freshly baked and proper fluffy. Everything is cooked over hot charcoal, giving it that perfect smoky flavour that you want. The service is fast and friendly, even when they are rammed. If you’re in the area and fancy proper Turkish food, this spot has you completely sorted.
