At Minik Kardes, through well-planned opportunities, children are encouraged to play. We believe that through play, children learn about the world around them and begin to develop skills and concepts that they will need later on in their education. The activities vary day to day, and season to season and are based on the children’s interests and needs.

The children are free to choose their own activities while the staffs works alongside them introducing them to new concepts, vocabulary and ideas, answering any questions and suggesting ways in which they can extend and expand on the activities.

SETTLING IN

Starting at Minik Kardes is an exciting experience but may be daunting for both children and adults. In order that your child feels safe, secure and happy with us, we ask you to bring your child for half a day each day for a week and to stay with them. This time is important for the child to settle in and to learn to separate from you. We ask you to spend the whole session with your child in the nursery, exploring Minik Kardes and meeting other new children and adults. 

Children will need this time with you at Minik Kardes in order to gain confidence in this new environment. It is a change for all children, even for those who have had experience of staying with child minders or going to a playgroup. After the initial period, we can be flexible to the needs of the child and will discuss with individual parents how best to continue.

Routines, baby room,

We also have a bedroom to provide a relaxing rest area for your child. Some families prefer their children to have a sleep, others not. The children typically go to sleep after lunch. Lunch takes place between 12 and 12.40pm.

COLLECTING YOUR CHILD

Please bring your child to Minik Kardes regularly. Children learn good habits of attendance at an early age. You must collect your child by 5.50pm at the latest. The final 10 minutes is to give time for staff to tidy and set up the nursery for the next day.

If you are unable to collect your child for any reason and have nominated someone else to collect your child, you HAVE TO call us to let us know otherwise we will be unable to release your child. We are also not allowed to let anyone under 16 years of age collect your child. These rules are very strict for your child’s safety and as part of our Safeguarding Children Procedures.
