Turkish Airlines has officially announced it will begin direct flights from London Stansted (STN) to Istanbul Airport (IST) starting March 18, 2026.
This new route marks a major expansion for the national flag carrier, making Stansted the third airport in the capital to be served by the airline, alongside Heathrow and Gatwick.
The airline will operate 10 flights per week on this new route, significantly boosting capacity between the UK and Turkey.
The addition of Stansted to the Turkish Airlines network is expected to be particularly welcomed by the large Turkish-speaking communities in North and East London. Residents in boroughs such as Enfield, Haringey, and Hackney will now have a premium travel option much closer to home, avoiding the longer journey to Heathrow or Gatwick.
Previously, travelers from areas like Barnet and Waltham Forest primarily relied on low-cost carriers for direct flights from Stansted. The entry of Turkish Airlines introduces a full-service alternative, including complimentary catering and generous baggage allowances, which is often a priority for families visiting relatives in Turkey.
This move not only facilitates travel to Istanbul but also opens up Turkish Airlines' massive global network to passengers flying from Stansted. Travelers will have seamless connections to destinations across the Middle East, Asia, and Africa via the Istanbul hub.
Tickets for the new service are expected to be available for booking immediately through the Turkish Airlines website and mobile app.
