New support program launched for low-income families in Enfield

Improving financial resilience for local households

Enfield Council has officially introduced a vital new initiative called the Family Financial Resilience Partnership, designed to provide free financial advice and support to low-income families in Enfield. Funded by the Mayor of London, this program aims to help households manage the rising cost of living by offering expert guidance on income maximization and essential expense management. Starting from 23 February, face-to-face sessions will be available at key local hubs, including Ponders End and Craig Park Youth and Family Centres.

Wide range of free financial services

The program offers a comprehensive suite of support services tailored to the needs of modern families. Qualified advisors will provide one-on-one assistance across several critical areas, including:

  • Benefit and entitlement checks

  • Debt management and housing issues

  • Childcare costs and disability-related support

  • Immigration advice and employment guidance

This holistic approach ensures that families in Enfield can find all the resources they need to build a more stable financial future in one place.

Targeted support for the Turkish community

The initiative is particularly relevant for the large Turkish-speaking community in Enfield and neighboring Haringey. By providing accessible, face-to-face advice, the program helps bridge the gap for families who may struggle with complex administrative systems. Abdul Abdullahi, Enfield Council's Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, emphasized that the goal is to reach those most in need, ensuring that every child in the borough has the best possible start in life regardless of their family’s financial background.

How to access the service

Support is available to families with children up to age 19, or up to age 25 for households with children who have special educational needs or disabilities. Families can begin booking appointments from 2 February following a referral from Family Centres or Children’s Services. For more information, residents can visit the Enfield Council Youth and Family web page or call 020 8379 2002. This collaborative effort, involving organizations like London Citizens Advice and the London Legal Support Trust, marks a significant step toward reducing financial inequality across London.
